Itinerary
1 Day: Da Nang – Son Tra Nature Reserve
Target species: Birding Son Tra: Bông lau họng vạch (Pycnonotus aurigaster), Cú vọ lưng nâu (Ninox scutulata), Crested Honey Buzzard (Pernis ptilorhynchus), Hill Myna (Gracula religiosa), and Orange-headed Thrush (Geokichla citrina)).
The bird fauna in Son Tra Peninsula Nature Reserve comprises 104 species belonging to 79 genera, 43 families, and 14 orders. A total of 41 bird species have been newly recorded in the study area. Among these, 80 species are residents, 30 are migratory, and 20 species have both resident and migratory populations. Four bird species are prioritized for conservation, including:
- 1 specieslisted as Vulnerable (VU) in the IUCN Red List (2014) and the Vietnam Red Book (2007) (Red-bellied Pitta (Pitta erythrogaster));
- 3 speciesclassified under Group IIB of the Government’s Decree 32/2006/ND-CP (Crested Honey Buzzard (Pernis ptilorhynchus), Hill Myna (Gracula religiosa), and Orange-headed Thrush (Geokichla citrina)).
