On the afternoon of May 10, the third episode of the 2025 program “Voọc ơi, mình đi đâu thế” took place at Son Tra Peninsula. Twelve students from different secondary schools in Da Nang and Hoi An joined the event. A special part of the event was the participation of the VietNam Discovery (VTV4) team, with a foreign host.

Confidently talking and exploring nature with a foreign expert
In the third episode of “Voọc ơi, mình đi đâu thế” in 2025, the program was guided by Mr. Triệu Trân Huân – an expert with many years of experience in biodiversity conservation. The students enjoyed an exciting afternoon watching the red-shanked douc langurs – known as the “queen of primates” – calmly searching for food, playful monkeys jumping between branches, and listening to different bird calls. Wild plants like wild raspberries, Japanese tea plants, sim, and mua flowers also caught the children’s attention as the expert shared interesting facts with them.

A special highlight of this episode of “Voọc ơi, mình đi đâu thế” was the participation of Brad Hirsch, the host of the Vietnam Discovery program on VTV4. Even more surprising, the students confidently talked with him and shared their love for the nature of Son Tra.

Writing a letter to yourself – a summer “cloud-hunting” memory

One special activity in this episode was that, at the end of the journey, each student was asked to write a letter to their future self. According to Mr. Triệu Trân Huân, the program organizers hoped this would help the students express their feelings and remember the trip for a longer time.

“The students could write about their emotions, new friends they met, speaking English with the Vietnam Discovery team and the foreign host, or watching the red-shanked douc langurs… We will send these letters back to them in about three months, hoping that when they read them, they will recall the afternoon they spent exploring Son Tra’s nature. Maybe, from that moment, their love for nature will grow even stronger,” Mr. Huân shared.

The surprises didn’t stop there. As the group was getting ready to head down the mountain, thick fog suddenly covered the trail. The students were treated to a “cloud-hunting” scene, just like in Da Lat, as strong winds slowly pushed large clouds down over the forest.

This was a rare weather event. Usually in summer, Son Tra doesn’t have such thick clouds that cover the whole forest. But that’s exactly what made the experience even more exciting for the students. The winding mountain road became magical, and once again, they witnessed nature’s changes and created another unforgettable memory from this trip.
