What to expect

The Tour is mainly focused on the Bird and wildlife species which are native to the north of Vietnam. By spending time at protected areas of the Cuc Phuong National Park, Xuan Thuy National Park and Van Long Nature Reserve area, we will have chance to see many special and endemic of the country.

Itinerary

Day 1: Ha Noi – Cuc Phuong National Park – Van Long Wetland Nature reserve

In the early morning (5-6 am) Our team HIVOOC will welcome and pick you up at Noi Bai Airport or Ha Noi City in the early morning to go to Cuc Phuong National Park (3 hours by transfer). Established in 1962, Cuc Phuong is well known as the first National Park of Vietnam, it locates in 3 provinces: Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa. There are about 2000 species of vascular plants , more than 100 species of mammals , 36 reptilian species, 17 species of amphibians, 2000 species of insects, 11 species of fish, 400 species of birds and endemic species. Cuc Phuong National Park is an ideal destination for all who want to explore Wildlife and bird watching in the tropical rainforest. We will have one full day in the primary forest with nearly 400 species of rare birds. Asian Barred owlet, Brown Howk owl, Collared owlet, Mountain scops owl, Clollaerd scops owl, Oriental Bay owl, Oriental scops owl, Sopt – bellied Eagle – owl, Brown Bookook. Nocturnal animals: Pygmy loris ( Nycticebus pygmaeus), flying squirrel. There are also rare of Amphibians such as: Gordon’s Bug – eyed Frog ( Theloderma gordoni), Mossy wart Frog ( Theloderma corticale)

Day 2: Cuc Phuong National Park – Van Long Wetland Nature reserve

In the morning: After having breakfast, leaving Cuc Phuong National Park on magnificent countryside roads to Van Long Wetland Nature Reseve for go straight to the distribution area of Delacour’s Langurs (Trachypithecus delacouri). From here we will take a bamboo boat to the dramatic limestone cliffs that home to the Vietnam’s endemic and Critical Endangered primate “Delacou’s langurs” we also can see several Waders, herons, bitterms, white – browed crake, cinamom bitters, Yellow bitterms,phearsant – tailed Jacana. Eurasian coot, Grey headed swamphen, little Egrets , Herons, little Grebe, Commom Kingfisher ,Black – caped Kingfisher,White Throated Kingfisher ,Greater Coucal, White – beasted Crake,Grey – headed Lapwing , Chinese Pond Herons, Chinese Egret, Grey Herons, Black – Crowned Night Herons , Black Bittern, Asian Openbill , Brown Shike, Grey Wagtail, Black Baza, Comom – Tailorbirds, White – shouldere starling , Red – Vented Bulbul, White – throated Fantail, Common Moorhen, Falcated Duck, Eurasian Wigeo, Garganey… In the afternoon: The car will pick us up to deep the core of the Reserve to see the Delacour’s Langurs (Trachypithecus delacouri). You will able to catch wonderful moments when the adults groom their babies and sitting on the cliffs before going to their sleeping cave. Late afternoon: Van Long Wetland Nature Reserve- Xuan Thuy National Park We will go to Xuan Thuy National Park (1 hour by transfer), then check in the hotel in the area.

Day 3: Xuan Thuy National Park – Ha Noi

Starting in the early morning (5-6 am) We will spend a full day in Xuan Thuy National Park before going back to Hanoi Xuan Thuy National Park is a large alluvial area located in the south of Red river basin with a total Natural area of 7,100 hectares. Physical difficulty

Mostly easy walking along tracks, roads, and trails, but there will be a few inclined sections in the mountains.
