What to expect

Nestled in the Annamite Mountains of central Vietnam, Bach Ma National Park is a biodiversity treasure and a peaceful retreat for nature lovers. Covering over 37,000 hectares, the park spans lush forests, cool streams, and cloud-covered peaks that rise over 1,400 meters. Once a French hill station, Bach Ma boasts a refreshing climate year-round and rich historical remnants.

Bach Ma is home to more than 1,700 species of plants and over 350 species of vertebrate animals, including rare mammals like the Annamite striped rabbit, saola, and crested argus pheasant. Its unique location—where northern and southern ecosystems meet—makes it a hotspot of endemic and endangered species.

Visitors can hike scenic trails such as the Five Lakes Trail, Rhododendron Falls, or conquer the summit for panoramic views. Birdwatching is particularly rewarding, with colorful species often spotted near forest edges.

Itinerary

Day 1 : Da Nang (or Hue city) – Bach Ma National Park.
From Da Nang city (or Hue city), we will go by Car to Bach Ma National Park (2 hours) We will arrive around 9:30 then check in a Bungalow inside the Park Bach Ma National Park has recorded a large number of bird species, often cited as over 360 species, with specific figures ranging from 358 to 366 species depending on the source. This high number of bird species has made Bach Ma one of the most important areas for bird diversity in Vietnam, accounting for a significant proportion (approximately 40%) of the country's total bird species. The fact that a single national park can harbor such a large portion of Vietnam's total bird species highlights its crucial role in national biodiversity conservation efforts. These birds are often ground-dwelling and highly sensitive to habitat disturbance and hunting pressure, making their presence in Bach Ma an important indicator of the national park's ecological integrity. Notable endemic bird species found in Bach Ma include the Crested Argus (Rheinardia ocellata), Annam Partridge (Arborophila merlini, now commonly known as Green-legged Partridge), Edwards's Pheasant (Lophura edwardsi), and possibly the Short-tailed Scimitar Babbler (Jabouilleia danjioui) and the Annam Barbet (Psilopogon annamensis).
